martha.run

I went for my second run today. It is almost a week since my first, but a certain degree of post-wedding hangoverness didn't seem to abate until today.

I was a bit frightened, because my first effort was so damn hard. I don't know why, or how it works, but today was SO MUCH BETTER. I'd decided to try and run a quarter further, but actually ran twice as far as last time, and I felt great. Not much burning chest, not too much flaming throat. My walk home wasn't filled with nausea. All up I think I may be able to do it.

Thanks Dee, although I have to say, I'm still not running very far - at all. But I feel like I'm on track to get better at it.

You have to put the glass down when you run, that usually helps.

Not that I make a habit of running: I leave that to fit young things like Ben and Dee.

I ran to catch a bus once. I remember the occasion well... it was in Stratford, East London, and if I missed it there was about a 15 minute wait for the next one.

And I didn't have nausea, either. Maybe I should have taken this natural talent I seem to have and tried running a marathon?

Alan, it is all about endorphins. I'm still waiting for them, but I'm up for anything.

Ben, 10% seems pretty low on the scale of run I'm doing. But it sounds like a very nice excuse to take it easy.

And David,it is never too late to run a marathon. Unless you're me. I think the very idea is appalling..
