Celebrant update
I have gone all and got the celebrant forms. I have also asked some people to write testimonials about my greatness.
The forms are a little tricky really as I have to come up with some unique properties that make me right for the job. I thought, easy - how many celebrants can there be in Petone who will do nice civil union services? The answer is at least one who lives about 10 houses down from me. I'm going to have to go for the (slightly more) youth(ful) vote - and hope she is old.
I also think club affiliations and volunteer work are not going to be one of my strengths. Plunket anyone? Before children I did some work on Active 89fm, but honestly that was a very little a very long time ago. I've also done some art gallery minding, and my last job was so poorly paid it was virtually volunteer. I'm just not sure they're going to buy it though.
Nevermind, onwards and upwards. At the very least it will be something I can blog about.

Excellent Martha, I look forward to it.
Wow! How cool! Definitely keep us posted.
Yay! Put 1 November 2006 in your celebrant diary!
Ladies thank you. I scoped out the other celebrant on the block earlier, and her house looks kind of a bit nana-ish, so maybe I'll appeal to a more youth market.
Really, I need some strings pulled in high places. I looked at the NZ Gazette to see who else is a celebrant, they virtually all seem affiliated with churches.
Mention the blog - proves your cutting edge and hip with the kids ... or that you may spend too much time on a computer and need to get out more (a la me) ... hmm, better be careful there.
I definitely think NOT mentioning the blog would be the idea. The fewer people who know about it the better (well, real people without blogs that is).
Yes, we can be safely ignored, being only virtual.
Maybe you could do online marriages?
Like Homer, I could marry anyone to anything.
Here I go being Homer again.
If Mrs R leaves me, I am going to marry Charli. Would you do the honours? Mrs R says she'll come along and my little R's can be flower girls...then she is going to cut the arms off all my suits and do something unmentionable to my toothbrush....
Yeah, don't mention the blog, that way you can keep us all amused with stories of civil unions ahoy!
Parhaps I should look at Nathan....
Noooooooooo - mention the blog, make some $$$$sss ... OK, maybe not.
Perhaps get two blogs - one you and one civil union marriage celebrant ... maybe.
Mr Resonable I will certainly not marry you to Nathan or Charli. Both are white trash and I'm sure you can do better.
Jessie and Mike - I definitely cannot mention the blog if I'm going to maintain any credibility. I don't want to have to make the blog credible - ya know?
