More Celebrity Vitamins

Far be it from me to make any allegations about anyone famous...

I have just witnessed Ms Coc-Kroft (do you think she was really once Cock-Roft?) on the telly admitting that she takes selenium.

I guess this is what has made her go orange.

Selenium - it's a bit of a rural folk remedy, as I found out one day in my post-teenage years when I caught my Mum adding it to my coffee. Not quite sure what she thought she was fixing (especially as the bottle was really for use on sheep only and had a rather grim "Poison S.4" label on it).

NZ soils are deficient in it, so it's added to fertilisers, salt blocks, etc. It's not really needed by people, as we pick it up through what we eat. In theory.

Sounds like it is lucky you made it through childhood. Are you sure there wasn't a little of the Munchausens by proxy going on?

One of my many jobs when young was in a pharmacy, and we used to have a crazy old guy come in raving about selenium almost daily.

Mainly I was alarmed at Lana's complexion on this ad, her fake tanner had gone somewhat overboard - but just on her face. Keep an eye out for it.

Her evasions and fussiness about her name remind me of the alarm some in the Cook Islands felt when they realised how attractive their .co.nz equivalent domains were going to be in a certain section of the internet. Given that their top level domain is .ck.

Ha! I hadn't heard that. Are they being used as one might imagine?

I used to give selenium to my horse. She had a lovely face and was a golden chestnut colour. Quite like Lana actually.

what is the "stuff"? I'm onto about my 50th cold this year, and very eager to never have one again.

Whhha..? I'm in shock. I've taken selenium for years as an anti-flu remedy.
My skin is normal, I'm not a horse - has it not worked then?

Ah what the heck - just strap the saddle on anyways...
