Metallica (satan fingers)

I like this picture, they're so hott with the hair. Mmmm

Last night we watched Metallica - Some Kind of Monster. It was really enjoyable.

I have never, by any stretch of the imagination, been a metaller. I do own Appetite for Destruction, but I don't think that counts. The Metallica movie was well worth a watch anyway. They were so intense, and self absorbed. It was quite fascinating. A little bit Spinal Tap, but real.

And Lars Ulrich had the most beautiful art I have ever seen. He sold most of it, but by crikey the guy had good taste. I'd love to know what he has bought since.

Did you get that one from dvd unlimited?

Which one is Lars?

I've never gone for the long hair lout... except for when I was 18 - and he was just naughty and had good pot. Dolly doesn't do that anymore.

Lars in the one front right. They all actually have short hair now. I can't think of a single bloke who looks good with long hair. Even Johnny Depp (who can do no wrong) looked terrible with it.

I picked the photo for its white trash value. Actually the original bass player died top left). They were "dealing with it" in the film.

And Ben, I bought my G n R Cd about 4 years ago from Cash Converters, so mine isn't strictly a period piece either. It is great.

Ulrich is a spokesman for the downloading-music-is-theft brigade. Kinda funny that a group of bad-ass rockers with a carefully cultivated dark look should get all holier than thou about a comparitively minor crime that just about all their fans indulge in. Kinda like having Eminem warn us not to drive too fast. Or some gangsta rapper lecturing us about the evils of swearing.

Yeah, they were going through that when this film was shot. I think he regretted undertaking it when it became pretty big, and he became pretty unpopular (or to quote him "the most hated man in rock").

I think I have seen some cartoon online that takes the piss our of Lars going on about downloading music is theft etc. But I didn't really know who they were talking about. Thanks ;)

Yeah, they showed the cartoon on the film too.

It really is worth watching, even if you're not in the slightest bit interested in the music genre.
