Dream job!

I've found it! I'm going to become an expert at being in focus groups for ad agencies. I did my first today, and what could be more perfect?

You get to talk about yourself THE WHOLE TIME.

You get to be totally opinionated THE WHOLE TIME.

You get to drink booze and eat yummy stuff.

You get a voucher to go shopping.

Man. I just need to do about 8 of these things a week, and life would be pretty much perfect. Not to mention the fact I'd fix the advertising market and have every consumerable marketed to my precise needs.

Hallelujah.

I did that once! It was about advertising standards in relation to nudity and sex on magazine covers, videos etc. All to help out the chief censor. It was really good. I got to see all sorts of things that I had never seen before. Very educational.

Oh, that one sounds like fun!

I did one for a women's cable network. $75, free dinner and we could endlessly shoot our mouths. It was heaven. I've never heard of one here giving the panelists booze. Lucky you.

http://www.harrispollonline.com/ is a good one for in-home/office surveys. You collect points and can get free stuff.

It is just mind boggling how much companies must pay for this stuff.

I got a Kircaldies voucher - which is a nice posh department store. I'm thinking a nice treat...

but what about the perpetuating the consumerist- oh you got a Kirks voucher? yay!

What about the myster shopper kind of job.

I remember once applying for a "mystery shopper" job - right up my alley. Trouble was I couldn't follow it up because I left the hubby, moved house ... blah, blah, blah.

That scares me somewhat! Sounds like a great gig though... Where does a boy like me sign up? Oh, and more about the drinking...

I got to smoke Dunhill Blues in their spanky new packaging for one of those research things once, mind you it was in smoke-wherever-you-want-land-never-mind-the-kiddies'-growing-lungs (England). I got paid 50 quid and all. And I got handfuls of packets to take home to my flat, instantly making me the most popular person in Stoke Newington.
